Preparatory Stage (III to V)

At the Preparatory Stage (Classes I-V) a hands-on approach is practised which helps to develop a spirit of enquiry. Language and numeric skills are acquired through the teaching of specific subjects such as English, Hindi, Mathematics, General Science, General Studies (History and Geography) and Environmental Studies. Music, Physical Education and Art are all interwoven into the curriculum.

TIS also offers a myriad selection of co-curricular activities that are designed to help children discover their interests and talents. An inclusive curriculum addresses the needs of different kinds of learners. The teachers aim to build an interactive ambience where children may freely express their own opinions.

Technology is used to make lessons, effective and enjoyable through Smart boards, PPTs and videos. An innovative, child- friendly method of teaching is followed with special attention on individual potential. Apart from leading the students successfully on the path of academic excellence, the main aim is to help and guide the students to become well- rounded individuals and provide them the opportunity to blossom and realize their potential.

Creativity

Learner – Centric approach is a vital component of all programs and all our programs are created keeping students’ interests in mind.

Importance Given to Technology

The 5 Essential elements of learing at TIS are: Knowledge, Skills, Concept, Attitudes and Action

  • Knowledge – which is both disciplinary and trans-disciplinary, represented by traditional subject areas such as language, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, and sports.
  • Skills – the broad capabilities students develop and apply during learning and in life beyond the classroom.
  • Concepts – ideas students explore through structured inquiry to develop coherent, in-depth understanding, relevant within and beyond subject areas.
  • Attitudes – qualities that contribute to international-mindedness and the wellbeing of individuals and learning communities, directly connected to the IB learner profile.
  • Action – the expectation that successful inquiry leads to responsible, thoughtful, and appropriate action.
TEACHING METHODOLOGY

  • Visible thinking routines are practiced at Technocrats to promote and enhance student’s learning. These routines enrich the classroom environment and foster student’s intellectual development. They help students reflect on their thinking about a topic or issue and explore how and why that thinking has changed.
  • Classroom routines for developing language, mathematical concepts, and a sense of belongingness ensure that daily or weekly tasks are completed smoothly. With these routines in place, students are aware of what is expected from them.
  • Learning by doing – Students are given opportunities to explore, investigate, and find answers to their queries. Virtual and in-house field trips enrich their learning experience.
  • Parent involvement in their children’s learning not only improves a child’s morale, attitude, and academic achievement across all subject areas but also promotes better behaviour and social adjustment. At Technocrats, parents are openly involved in all major activities.
  • Reflection is an integral part at TIS: Teachers reflect on their teaching styles and strategies, while students reflect on what, why, and how the learning has changed their views.
ASSESSMENT

Assessment is an essential part of the teaching and learning process. It provides information about student learning and development, as well as a framework for planning, self-reflection, and collaboration. Formative and Summative assessments are done for each unit followed by Student led conferences, this helps teachers in understanding students’ strengths and challenges.
